IB Honor in 2008

In January 2008, the Bank won the “2007 Best Public Corporate Image Prize” in the appraisal of “2007 Best Public Corporate Images” jointly launched by the Enterprise Research Institute of the Development Research Center of the State Council, the China Credit Research Center of Peking University, Sohu Business, and Guanghua Media.

On February 25, 2008, the Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC) signed the cooperation agreement on the energy conservation and emission reduction financing project (Phase II), which signified that both parties would carry out deeper cooperation in supporting the energy conservation and emission reduction objectives of China. Under the agreement, IFC would provide the risk sharing for loan principal of USD 100 million for supporting the Bank to grant energy conservation and emission reduction projects worth RMB 1.5 billion (about USD 210 million). It was expected that the action would reduce the emission of over 5 million tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to shutting off ten 100MW thermal power stations.

On March 18, 2008, the 7th session of the 6 th board of directors of the Bank approved the “Outline of Integrated Business Operation Planning of Industrial Bank” and further specified the general objectives, basic principles and major measures of integrated business operation. This indicated that the Bank would normalize and push forward integrated operation steadily.

In April 2008, the Bank won the “2008 China Best Call Center” and the “2008 China Best Manager of Customer Services” jointly awarded by the CRM Committee of the China Federation of IT Promotion under the Ministry of Information Industry and the Customer Contact Center Standard (CCCS) Commission.

In May 2008, the Bank was honored the “Best Customer Service Center of the Finance Industry” at the "1st Appraisal of the Call Center Sector of Chinese Finance Industry” sponsored by Financial News.

In May 2008, in the wake of the devastating earthquake in Sichuan Province, the Bank carried forward the spirit “when disaster strikes, help comes from all sides” vigorously, donating more than RMB 20 million to the disaster-stricken area and organizing the urgent transportation of a large amount of disaster-relieving materials such as bedding, clothes, food and medicine to the affected area. More than 1/4 of the Bank's employees donated blood voluntarily. Among all similar banks across China, IB was the first one to grant special loans for post-disaster reconstruction supporting the reconstruction of municipal facilities in the disaster-stricken cities, such as road, drainage and bridge, and the relocation and reconstruction of dilapidated houses for people in the disaster-stricken areas. The Bank made active contribution to the smooth progress of the cause of disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction.

On May 19, 2008, the Bank released the “China Heart Credit Card”, the first one on the theme of patriotism in China, and launched “China Heart Public Welfare Program”.

On June 15, 2008, the Bank was awarded the “No.1 of Top 10 Listed Company with the Greatest Growth Prospect 2007” in the 3rd Chinese Securities Journal Cup Top 10 Listed Companies for Competitiveness and Public Credibility”.

On June 26, 2008, the Bank was honored one of the “2007 China Top 100 Most Valuable Listed Companies” at the appraisal of “2007 China Top 100 Most Valuable Listed Companies” jointly organized by Securities Times and China Southern Asset Management Co. Ltd.

In July 2008, according to the 2008 Global 1000 Banks released by the mainstream British magazine, The Banker (July issue), the Bank ranked No.147 in terms of Tier 1 capital, a significant growth of 113 positions over the previous year, and No.9 among domestic banks, 1 position up; rising to No.124 in terms of total assets by 21 positions over the previous year.

On July 26, 2008, in the appraisal of “2007 China Best Banks” sponsored by Economic Observer Newspaper, the Bank won the “Green Bank Innovation Prize”.

On August 26, 2008, the Bank celebrated its 20 th anniversary. Over the past 20 years, the Bank has quickly grown from a regional small commercial bank into one among the Global Top 200 and China Top 10 banks, successfully fulfilling the frog-leap development in four stages from a local bank, a regional bank, a national bank to a listed bank and fully establishing a mainstream position in the Chinese banking industry.

In August 2008, the Bank won the “Best Internet Banking Prize” at the 9 th Appraisal of China Outstanding Financial and Economic Websites sponsored by Securities Times.

On September 23, 2008, the Bank won the “Prize for the Most Service-Conscious Bank” at the Appraisal of Golden Unicorn Awards sponsored by Sina.com.cn.

On September 25, 2008, the “2008 Joint Conference of Presidents of Joint-stock Commercial Banks in China” jointly sponsored by the Bank and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was held solemnly in Nanning. Discussions were organized centering on the theme of “social responsibilities of joint-stock commercial banks in China”, and all banks attending the conference signed the Declaration on the Social Responsibilities of Joint-stock Commercial Banks in China.

In October2008, the bank was honored the title of “2008 China Best Call Center” issued by the Specialized Committee of Call Center and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) of China Electronic Chamber of Commerce.

On October 31, 2008, the Bank held a press conference in Beijing, announcing to the public to adopt the Equator Principles, and becoming the first Chinese “Equator bank”. This signified that the Bank took a leading position in introducing advanced international mode, strengthening the control of environmental and social risks, and promoting scientific and sustainable development. Reports could be seen at the “Xinwen Lianbo” of CCTV1 and programs of other mainstream media across China.

On November 20, 2008, at the 2007 Appraisal of Investor Relations of A-share Listed Companies, the Bank won three awards, “Runner-up in the Top 100 Companies for Investor Relations”, the “Best Communication Prize” and the “Prize for the Best Institution of Contribution in Corporate Social Responsibilities”.

On November 27, 2008, at the appraisal of “2008 CBN Financial Value Ranking (CFV)” sponsored by China Business News, “IB Wise Fortune”, a corporate finance brand of the Bank, won the prize of “2008 Corporate Financial Service Brand” with diverse product portfolios, financial service solutions that cater to the needs of customers, and superior service quality.

On November 28, 2008, the new-generation core system of Xinxiang City Commercial Bank of Henan Province that had been developed by the Bank by way of insourcing was put into operation officially. This was the first time that the Bank provided the service of information system construction by way of insourcing for domestic small- and medium-sized banks after IB developed a customized core business system for Dongying City Commercial Bank by way of outsourcing in 2007. It marked that the business of technological management output service initiated by the Bank in the domestic banking industry was becoming mature.

On November 30, 2008, in the “2008 Asian Banks Competitiveness Ranking” organized by 21st Century Business Herald , the Bank won the “Prize for the Bank with the Best ROE in the Chinese Mainland” with outstanding profitability, topping all banks of the Chinese Mainland in terms of profit index for two years consecutively.

On December 6, 2008, the Bank won the “Best Chinese Corporate Citizen Prize” again at the “2008 Chinese Corporate Citizens Forum and the Award Ceremony for the 5th Best Chinese Corporate Citizens” sponsored by the 21st Century News Group.

On December 18, 2008, at the “Award Ceremony for the 2008 Sohu Financial Wealth Management Network Pageant” sponsored by Sohu.com, the Bank won the “Excellent Corporate Internet Banking Service Prize” out of many competitors with the corporate internet banking service system, “CIB Online Five-star Navigation”, which featured leading concept and considerate services.

On December 28, 2008, at the Release Ceremony for the 50 Most Influential Events Since the Reform and Opening-up of China and the 2008 China Best Financial Institution Ranking” jointly sponsored by the Financial News and the Institute of Finance and Banking, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Bank won the “Annual Best Joint-stock Bank”.

On December 31, 2008, the total assets of the Bank hit RMB 1,023.3 billion with an increase of 20% over the previous year, breaking through RMB 1 trillion for the first time.
