Industrial Bank Named No.1 Listed Company for Sustainable Investment Value

The awards ceremony for the “4th Chinese Securities Cup Top 10 Listed Companies for Competitiveness & Public Credibility” was held in Nanjing on June 6, 2009.

At the event, the Industrial Bank (601166) was named “No.1 Listed Company for Stainable Investment Value” and Tang Bin, Secretary of the Board of Directors, was granted the title “Gold Medal Board Secretary for Investor Relations”.

“The Top 10 Listed Companies for Competitiveness & Public Credibility” is sponsored by Chinese Securities Journal and Sina Finance. The event has been held for four consecutive years. The appraisal included online voting, reader voting, institutional investor questionnaires and expert evaluation. Taking the performance of listed companies and investor returns in 2008 (including bonus, presenting shares and market value return) into consideration, each contender was given a final score.

The Industrial Bank (601166) was named “No.1 Listed Company for Stainable Investment Value” at this year's event. At the end of 2008, the total assets of the bank stood at 1.0209 trillion, after-tax profits for 2008 were 11.385 billion (an increase of 32.60%), the ratio of non-performing loans was just 0.83% and various indicators of quality and performance represented an international standard. In the 2009 rankings of the Top 2000 global listed companies published by Forbes in April, the Industrial Bank ranked in 389th place overall and 62nd place among the 307 global banks on the list.

With leading sustainable investment value among listed companies, the Industrial Bank has always placed emphasis on sustainable development. In the 2009 “Sustainable Banking Awards” held recently by the Financial Times and IFC, the Industrial Bank was named “Asian Sustainable Bank of the Year” owing to its pioneering work and notable achievements in the field of sustainable finance. The Industrial Bank is the only bank in China to have won this award. Moreover, the Industrial Bank is the only Chinese bank to have been nominated for sustainable banking awards three years running and to have been successful on two occasions.
