Industrial Bank and Other Companies Award Newspapers to University Students in Fujian

On 10 May, the Industrial Bank and a group of other companies joined with the China Daily to hold the Newspaper Giveaway Ceremony for Students in Fuzhou. The initiative involves granting free subscriptions to the China Daily to 10,000 undergraduate students in the universities around Fujian province so as to help them to expand their horizons and improve their command of English.

it has been reported that 10,000 undergraduate students from Xiamen University, Fuzhou University, Fujian Normal University and other colleges and universities in Fujian Province will receive a one year's subscription (academic year) to the China Daily. A representative from the Industrial Bank expressed at the ceremony that this activity was designed to not only to render material aid to a number of students eager to learn, but also to provide extra food for thought and more opportunities to study.

For 20 years, as the only listed nationwide bank to be based in the Straits West region, the Industrial Bank has maintained a long-term commitment to repaying the community and participating in charity events as its operations and scale have expanded rapidly. The bank has actively been involved in disaster relief, education donations, aid to the poor and distressed and environmental protection initiatives so as to fulfill its social responsibilities. For example, after the devastating Wenchuan earthquake, the Industrial Bank rallied the entire bank, making a donation of RMB 21,910,000 Yuan, and was also the first national joint-stock bank in the country to grant reconstruction loans, totaling at RMB 200 million Yuan. Immediately after the Yushu earthquake in Qinghai, the industrial Bank donated RMB 15,000,000 Yuan and employed financial services for earthquake relief, providing priority services for disaster relief donations. The Industrial Bank also participated in 2010 Earth Hour in a call to more enterprises and individuals to pay attention to environmental and climate change issues, increase awareness and action to protect our earth and support the sustainable development of society, the economy and environment in a environmentally-friendly and low-carbon manner. Previously, the Industrial Bank donated RMB 10,000,000 Yuan to found the “IB Charity Fund” and joined with the Work Committee for Offices Directly under Fujian Province to establish the “IB Scholarship for Care of the Next Generation”, which are initiatives to support education and impoverished students in Fujian Province. According to incomplete statistics, the Industrial Bank has donated nearly RMB 80,000,000 Yuan to education, disaster relief, assistance for people in need and other charitable causes.
