Nanping Branch Grants 1 Billion in Loans to Support Post-Disaster Reconstruction and Urbanization

From June 13 to 20, Nanping was hit by torrential rains as the whole of North Fujian suffered from catastrophic floods. Large areas have been devastated by floods, resulting in serious damage to property, loss of life and the disruption of normal economic activities. Despite being affected by the floods itself, the Nanping Branch of the Industrial Bank has demonstrated a high level of social responsibility by offering its full support to rescue operations and post disaster relief and reconstruction. It has used action and heart to demonstrate the meaning of “responsibility and undertaking”.

On July 8, the Nanping Branch of the Industrial Bank held a signing ceremony for strategic cooperation with the Nanping Construction Bureau, which is entitled Benefiting Citizens--Serving Nanping's Urbanization. In accordance with the agreement, the Industrial Bank will provide a total of RMB 1 billion in loans to Nanping for urban development and construction programs. The loans will be used for the renovation of local shanty areas, the construction of affordable and welfare housing, and the development of public utilities and infrastructure. These loans will provide a strong financial backing for urbanization and post-disaster reconstruction in Nanping. This is the first bank-government signing ceremony focused on urban reconstruction to be held in Nanping. The Nanping Branch of the Industrial Bank was the first financial institution to respond to the disaster and take solid action to support post-disaster reconstruction. It is also the first branch of the Industrial Bank to sign a public welfare project in urban construction.

It is reported that the Nanping Branch resumed its operations as soon as possible following the outbreak of the floods, and played an active role in coordinating with the local Party Committee and Government to ensure that the financial services and funds needed to combat the flood, relieve the victims and begin reconstruction were available. In a bid to aid economic recovery and rebuilding, the branch dispatched personnel to disaster-affected areas to evaluate the situation and ascertain the demand for credit. Based on the actual conditions of affected clients, customized policies were formulated as a solution to assist clients in resuming production of their own accord. Efforts were also made to guarantee the stable operation of credit business. Meanwhile, priority channels were also established, through which the bank took the initiative in providing extended examinations and prompt accreditation. Since mid-June, the branch has offered 113 loans to industrial and commercial enterprises and self-employed people, totaling at RMB 218 million.

In addition, according to a relevant authority at the Nanping Branch, the bank will sign a cooperative agreement with the Jianyang Municipal Government in the near future. The bank is planning to provide 700 million in credit to support the city's enterprises and urban construction, thereby providing further support to the resumption of production activities and rebuilding in affected areas.
