On July 31, 2010, the “China Credit Card Summit Forum 2010 & the Ceremony for the Release of the Credit Card Assessment Report of Tencent” was held in Beijing by Tencent together with the China Banking Research Center of the Central University of Finance and Economics. The first low carbon-themed affinity credit card in China, IB's China low-carbon credit card, was named “Credit Card with the Most Outstanding Contribution” during the event.

As an active proponent of green finance and the first “Equator Bank” in China, the Industrial Bank (IB) launched China's first low-carbon credit card in an innovative step to change the ways that enterprises fulfill their social responsibilities. It has expanded energy conservation and emissions reduction initiatives from corporate projects to personal consumption, and has provided an easy banking transaction platform for Chinese people to actively participate in carbon emission reduction and realize a carbon neutral life. This is an innovative step for China's banking industry in combating climate change and striving for energy conservation and emissions reduction. It also represents a substantial step towards low-carbon in personal consumption. It marks the start of green consumption and low carbon in China's credit card market, which boasts a wealth of high-end clients.

It its understood that by the end of June this year, over ten thousand people have become involved in carbon emission reduction through IB's low-carbon credit card. This innovative financial product has both promoted the sustainability of the bank itself and encouraged the public to get involved in green consumption, low-carbon lifestyles and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This way it has delivered environmental and social benefits and made an innovative contribution to the development of China's low-carbon economy and a low-carbon society. As a result, IB's credit card was named “Credit Card with the Most Outstanding Contribution” by the event organizer.

According to Yan Xuewang, General Manager of the Credit Card Center of the Industrial Bank, with the great leap forward of China's credit card industry, the credit card business of IB focuses on product innovation and transformation of development modes. To meet the personalized demand of target customer groups, the bank has recently launched new personalized products with fantastic features and excellent functions such as the “IB-Xiamen Airline Egret Co-branded Credit Card” and “IB-Shanghai Mercedes Benz Platinum Co-branded Credit Card”. Meanwhile, in terms of business strategy, the bank has gradually moved away from extensive operation and towards intensive management, placing the focus on increasing the active card rate and enlarging the scope of effective and quality cards. The market share and profitability of the bank's credit card business is maintaining positive development. By the end of July this year, the total number of credit card issued by IB reached 6.35 million, and the profit earned in the first half of 2010 doubled the profit from the same period of the previous year.
