IB Named “2009 Best Bank for Technical Application in China”

The Industrial Bank was recently named the “2009 Best Bank for Technical Application in China” in the “Best Banks in China” awards recently held by mainstream publication the Eco no mic Observer Newspaper. The Industrial Bank was granted this award in recognition of its outstanding performance in the application of IT and its innovative application of technology.

The “Best Banks in China” awards were created by the Economic Observer Newspaper. They consider all banks operating in China, including both Chinese and foreign funded banks, and are widely participated in by experts and scholars from the People's Bank, the China Banking Regulatory Commission, the China Academy of Social Sciences, China Academy of Sciences, renowned schools in China and abroad, rating institutions, international investment banks, reinsurance companies and accounting firms in addition to the financial media.

Through objective and comprehensive evaluations, the awards aim to promote the operating concepts and modes of banks which have won a good name and made outstanding achievements in both comprehensive and specific operations, and thereby boost the overall reform and opening-up of China's banking sector. With a three year history, the awards have set the standards for domestic banks follow to enhance their competitiveness. The event has become a much talked about stage on which banks can exhibit their leading operation concepts, display their comprehensive strength and showcase their competitive services.

In recent years, the Industrial Bank has actively implemented a strategy of “prospering the bank through technology”, and has achieved outstanding results in the application of information technology. The bank has also won a string of awards for its efforts in this regard. In March 2009, IB won the “Best Enterprise Information Benefit Award” in the evaluation and selection of the “Top 500 Enterprises for Information Development in China” held by the National Information Evaluation Center. In July 2008, IB won the “Award for IT Driven Business Innovation” in the “2008 Competitiveness Evaluation of Commercial Banks in China” sponsored by The Banker magazine.

The Industrial Bank has always placed the creation of value and the enhancement of the customer experience at the center of its application of IT, which it sees as a way of defining the core competitiveness of the bank. The bank is constantly improving its software R&D service system complying with the CMMI3, the ITIL-directed IT operating service system and a highly usable and expandable IT infrastructure. In terms of its software R&D service system, the bank already developed a rationally-structured application system including over 100 information application systems in 9 categories, and has launched a series of creative products like the bank-to-bank platform, gold transaction and mobile banking. These services have received an overwhelming market response and are underpinning the fast growth of the bank's business. In terms of the construction of IT operating systems, the bank has always given top priority to the safe and stable operation of the production system. In the first half of 2010, the availability indicator for key information systems was as high as 99.994%, and the success ratio of its gold card system is unmatched in the industry. In terms of IT infrastructure construction, early in 2005 the bank had already built a three-in-one disaster backup system including a main data center, intra-city disaster backup and inter-city disaster backup, becoming one of the first banks in China to comply with the internationally recognized level-five disaster backup standard and the requirements for disaster backup of the People's Bank of China. In 2010, the Shanghai Zhangjiang Data Center will be launched. The center has been designed according to high standards and represents a leading level in China . The bank has also successfully completed the reconstruction of its tier-1 backbone network, laying down solid foundations for the bank's long-term development.

After being named the “2009 Best Bank for Technical Application in China”, the Industrial Bank stated that it will continue its commitment to “prospering the bank through technologies” and “putting customers first”, keep on enhancing its service standard through the application of advanced technologies, and thereby provide clients with even better banking services.
