Recently, Interbrand, a world leading integrated brand strategy consulting and designing company, released the “2012 China's Best Brand Value List” in Beijing, Industrial Bank (IB) ranked No.23 with a brand value of RMB 8.469 billion, rising 1 place over the previous year, and its brand value grew by 26% YoY, an increase ranking front among all listed enterprises.
Established in 1974 and entering China in 2002, Interbrand has its customers around the world. The company launched the research of brand value in the industry in 1984, and its analyzing system is universally recognized by the industry as a tool of special strategic management value.
The “2012 China's Best Brand Value List” released this time is the fifth time that Interbrand sets a coordinate space for the brand development of Chinese enterprises targeting at the Chinese market with the brand value evaluating method that it initiated. In the precondition of keeping consistence with the global assessment method of Interbrand to the largest extent, 50 brands with the greatest values in China are selected in the list which is still based on the financial data going through third-party independent auditing and extensive consumer research and market information. The list shows the net present values of the future brand income values of the selected brands at the end of 2011.
As shown by the list, the financial service sector still takes a prominent position. Of the top 50, there are 18 financial enterprises, of which banks account for 12. In the transverse comparison of industries, banking is one of the industries with the greatest growth in brand value, which is mainly driven by the financial performance. The brand role and strength remain basically the same.
Specifically, IB, which has drawn great attention in the capital market, registers an outstanding performance. In the above list, the bank ranks No.23 with a brand value of RMB 8.469 billion, rising 1 place over the previous year, and its brand value grows by 26% YoY, an increase ranking front among all listed enterprises. It highlights the sustainable growth power that IB releases in developing businesses oriented at SMEs and mini-sized enterprises vigorously and pushing forward the reform of business lines.
In fact, due to the improvement of economic benefits and social benefits, IB has elevated both its international and domestic rankings, and improved its brand value accordingly.
As revealed by relevant data, by the end of the third quarter of 2012, the total assets of IB hit RMB 2,964.686 billion, and the equity of shareholders is RMB 137.887 billion. Meanwhile, its non-performing loan ratio was only 0.45%, the lowest among all Chinese listed banks.
According to the ranking of “Global 500 Financial Brands in 2012” released by the British Magazine, The Banker, IB ranked No.97 in the ranking with its brand value of USD 1.571 billion, becoming one of the global 100 financial brands for the second year consecutively. According to the "Chinese Brand Ranking” released by Hu Run, the bank ranked No.52 with its brand value of RMB 10 billion.
According to the ranking of Top 1000 Banks in 2012 released by the British Magazine, The Banker, IB ranked No.69 in terms of Tier 1 capital, up by 14 places over the last year, and No.61 in terms of total assets, up by 14 places over the last year, remaining firmly to be one of the top 100 banks around the world. In the ranking of “Top 500 Chinese Enterprises” released by Fortune (Chinese version), IB ranked No.78, up by 6 places over the last year.
Meanwhile, as the first “Equator bank” as well as the forerunner and advocator of green finance in China, IB has adhered to the social responsibility concept of “obtaining reasonable profits while bringing benefits to the stakeholders”, winning a number of honors in the performance of social responsibilities, which have elevated its brand value in an intangible manner. Recently, at the Fifth World Economical and Environmental Conference jointly sponsored by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and International Energy Conservation Protection Environmental Association (IEEPA), IB became the only winner of “Carbon-value Social Citizen Award”. Before that, the bank has been listed No.1 in two green finance rankings released by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China and ten non-governmental environmental protection organizations respectively.
