With the coming of the Spring Festival, the trade union of Industrial Bank (IB) Chongqing Branch organized dozens of volunteers to Nantuo Primary School of Ba'nan District to visit children studying in the school, bringing them with books and stationary as well as care and help. “We hope that all the students here will never give up, study diligently, grow healthily and live happily.” The sunshiny smiles and great expectations of IB people warmed the kids of Nantuo Primary School deeply through the boundless haze in the winter.

A happy “home” in winter

“The kids here have got up early and walked against the chilly wind on rugged paths over hills while those in cities were still lying comfortably in their beds; they have assumed the heavy duty of life while those kids in cities still acted like spoiled children in their parents' arms.” said in emotion an employee of IB surname He. Some children have to walk for 1-2 hours on hilly paths to the school every day, but the paths are not difficult to go for them as the hope is just ahead. Nantuo Primary School, a rural school, is their happy “home”.

Many students in the school are stay-at-home children. Their parents work hard to make money in cities, striving for or gaining another living way. However, they cannot bring their children into cities and keep them beside because they stay in cities but cannot maintain a good life or have a foothold there. Meanwhile, in order to live or survive, they cannot leave their jobs and the cities where they work easily. It is in such a double contradiction that they have to accept the fact of being separated from their kids although the stay-at-home children have parents.

“Shabby” is the word that can best describe the situation here. In the shabby classrooms, the blackboards, desks and stools have weathered through ages, reporting the hard life of children generation after generation. All kids were covered by shabby clothes, and almost no kids worn a piece of intact clothes. It is hard to imagine how they could resist the piercing chilly wind in the winter for their small bodies with those shabby and thin clothes. A group of kids who are eager to learn sit in a shabby and dullish classroom where their enthusiastic reading can be heard once a while. The shabby place where others may find nowhere to plant one's foot is a “paradise” for the kids. The volunteers of IB Chongqing Branch were deeply moved by the scenes here.

Love illumines colorful dreams

Volunteers sit next to the kids, asking about their life and study. These innocent and plain children also exchanged their ideas with the volunteers. “This bag is very beautiful. I like it very much…” “Sister, do you live far away from us?” “Brother, I will write to report my study after you go back.” The childish cheerful utterances moved every one on the scene.

When gifts including school bags and stationery were presented to the kids, big smiles blossomed out on their faces. A pencil or an eraser means nothing to common people, but it means a colorful dream for the kids in many counties and districts. They have boundless thirst for knowledge and yearn for the outside world. We hope that all the students here will never give up, study diligently, grow healthily and live happily.

This caring activity is only a small part of the whole story that IB Chongqing Branch has helped the poverty-stricken and disadvantaged people with its sincere pays and performed its social responsibilities self-consciously for years. IB has always incorporated the pursuit of harmonious unification of economy, society and environment into its own development objectives on its own initiative, assuming economic, legal and moral responsibilities for sustainable development in a practical way. We believe that there will be more and more such responsible enterprises and more and more such warmhearted people beside us to pass love onto every one in need of help!
