Employees of Industrial Bank Donated RMB 10.91 Million to the Earthquake Attacked Ya'an

After the strike of Ya'an Earthquake, the donations personally made by the employees of Industrial Bank (IB) totaled RMB 10.91 million. The funds bearing the love of more than 37,000 employees of the bank have been transferred to the disaster-stricken area by institutions including the department of civil affairs of Ya'an, One Foundation and the local charity federations in the areas where IB have established branches.

It is reported that IB has donated RMB 10 million before, which has already reached the disaster-stricken area via the department of civil affairs of Lushan County. Up to now, IB and its employees have donated a total of RMB 20.91 million to the disaster-stricken area in this campaign of disaster relief.

As noted by the reporter, though the bank has not established a branch in Ya'an yet, it responded to the disaster quickly, which shows the great compassion across the bank for disaster relief.

After the earthquake, the bank quickly opened a green channel for disaster relief, gave priority to handling businesses related to disaster relief, and exerted itself to guarantee various financial service demands for disaster relief including remittance of disaster relief funds and cash withdrawal. In the meantime, the bank also decided to exempt the transfer handling charges for donations to the Red Cross Society of China, China Red Cross Foundation, China Charity Federation and other charity institutions via the bank's internet banking and mobile banking as well as over the counters at IB outlet.

On the day when the earthquake attacked the area, IB Chengdu Branch, the nearest branch of the bank, lost no time to establish the emergency headquarters for earthquake and disaster relief, activated the response plan for disaster relief instantly, and established a 24h on-duty system, opening a “green channel” for donation to extend cares out to the quake victims. On that day, the leaders of the branch also led a team of employees to drive over 100 kilometers, transporting a truck of disaster relief food to the earthquake-stricken area, and participating in the relief campaign. Facing the obstructed communication after the disaster, the branch also called all its employees to donate blood to the disaster-affected area by sending short messages.

On April 22, the first business day after the disaster, IB Head Office circulated a donation notice to all its branches both at home and abroad, pointing out “it is a fine tradition of IB people to carry forward the spirit ‘when disaster strikes, help comes from all sides', and it is also the responsibility that IB should assume as a listed bank”.

IB indicates that it will keep contacting with the government of the disaster-stricken area so as to learn the disaster relief progress and provide more financial services for the post-disaster reconstruction of the area.

It is said that Industrial Trust, a subsidiary controlled by IB, plans to establish the “Industrial Trust·Charity Fund Trust Plan”, with which the donations of the subsidiary and its employees may be covered under the charity fund for supporting the reconstruction of earthquake-stricken areas, including the rebuilding of school building and livelihood facilities, medical care of the disabled, and life assistance for the masses in the disaster-stricken areas.
