Enjoy Best Value of IB Rewarded Points at Starbucks

Nowadays it is common for many credit card holders to use hard earned rewarded points as cash instead of leaving it idle. Beyond exchange for gifts, rewarded points now can be used at physical and online stores, hence attracting more and more card holders.

At the weekend, the reporter walked into a Starbucks store in the downtown area of Shanghai. While rewarded points of credit cards issued by five banks can be used here directly, there are slight differences in practice: for the credit card issued by one of the banks, you can exchange a medium cup of beverage with 799 points (it actually needs 15,980 points for a medium cup of beverage because you have to use 20 yuan for 1 point). For three other banks, even you can earn 1 point by swiping 1 yuan, it still takes 30,000, 15,000 and 14,000 points for a big cup of beverage. Comparatively, if you have the credit card of one particular bank, you can exchange for a big cup of beverage with just 6,000 points though 1 point is still earned by swiping 1 yuan.

Furthermore, the price of a big cup of beverage at Starbucks is about 35 yuan, with the most favorable exchange rate (6,000 points for one cup), it means 170 points equal 1 yuan. The reporter noted that, during the time of a cup of coffee, several customers have exchanged for a big cup of beverage with 6,000 points, all with credit card issued by IB.

It is said that, by September 30 this year, IB’s credit card holders (except airlines co-branded platinum card and its supplementary card) can exchange for any big cup of handmade beverage with 6,000 points at designated Starbucks stores up to 4 cups per person per month; for extra exchange, card holders can use 1,7500 points for one cup with no limits on amount of cups.  Tips for more points: by August 31, 10 times points will be given for credit card holders who have swiped over RMB 10,000 yuan (or equivalent) accumulatively on overseas transactions.

In the era of internet, card holders can enjoy a lot of benefits in their life by paying attention to valuable information. And for banks, more similar beneficial activities like “consumption with rewarded points” will truly help them to attract clients.
