Brand Value Exceeds Ten Billion US Dollars

IB Ranks 21st among “Top 500 Global Banks”

Recently British magazine The Banker, an international authoritative media, and Brand Finance, a world-famous brand appraisal institution, released “2017 top 500 global banks”. Eleven Chinese banks were found in top 50. Among them, IB was ranked 21st with a brand value of USD 10.567 billion, up by 15 positions over last year.

The list revealed that brand value of Chinese banks on the list totaled USD 258 billion, about one fourth of the total brand value of top 500 global banks. It was the first time they surpassed American banks and led the world. In view of the growth speed of brand value, this year Chinese banks on the list with a growth speed of 25% exceeded American banks with a growth speed of 7%. IB witnessed an increase of RMB 4.112 billion concerning brand value with a growth speed up to 63.70%.

IB’s rapid growth of brand value should be owed to that it continues to deepen transformation and innovation under the new economic normal, insists on differentiated operation and brand building, thus all businesses maintain stable and sound development. By the end of the third quarter of 2016, the total asset of IB has reached RMB 5.82 trillion, up by 9.78% compared with the beginning of the year and ranking first among shareholding banks; total net profit has ran up to RMB 43.982 billion with a YOY growth of 6.70%, ranking second among banks of the same type; rate of bad loan was 1.71%, and provision coverage ratio was 224.68%, all remaining a higher status in the industry. Its ability to prevent risk was strengthened.

At the same time, characteristic businesses developed and nurtured by IB for many years continue to maintain a leading position in the industry, and brand advantages are expanded. Taking advantage of G20 and national policies, green finance group has richer product line, scale of green financing exceeds RMB one trillion and it further shows its image as a green finance leader at home and abroad; scale of debt underwriting ranks first among shareholding banks of the same type for three consecutive years, it ranks first for eight consecutive quarters among national banks with regard to capacity of comprehensive wealth management, scale of custody asset is among the top three in the industry, and market influence of “big investment bank, big capital management and big wealth” business is improved; elderly care finance thrives and "Enjoyable Life", China's first elderly care financial solution designed for the old, takes root in people’s mind; institutional finance, particularly “interbank platform” extends to international market and is more known to the world; Internet financial brands such as “Money Manager” and “Manager’s Wallet” win high praise from clients; innovative products and brands including “Three Fast Tracks” of payment, financing and wealth management, “IB Butler” and “Universal Life” abroad finance begin to display their merits.

In addition, with Hong Kong Branch and FTZ Branch as platforms, IB speeds up international development, cross-border finance soars, comprehensive and diversified financial service capacity gets excellent praise and credit from clients at home and abroad, and international influence and brand value is enhanced steadily.

On “2017 Top 500 Brands with Most Value” released by Brand Finance, IB ranks 129th, up by 80 positions over last year.
