Industrial Bank Successfully Passed the Pilot Acceptance of Corporate Group Digital Archives Construction

On March 26, 2024, IB successfully passed the National Archives Administration’s pilot acceptance for the construction of corporate group digital archives, becoming the second enterprise in the nation to pass the group pilot acceptance. Deputy Director Cai Yingfang of the Economic Science Department of the National Archives Administration, Director Chen Ximan of the Fujian Provincial Archives Bureau, IB President Chen Xinjian, Vice President Sun Xiongpeng, as well as relevant heads from the Bank’s head office, IB’s digital finance company, and members of the digital archives construction project team attended the meeting.

Vice President Sun Xiongpeng reported on behalf of IB about the positive progress made in recent years in accelerating digital transformation and strengthening innovation in digital finance, as well as an overview of the group’s digital archives construction.

The acceptance expert group listened to reports from IB’s digital archives construction project team regarding the pilot construction work, watched live system demonstrations, meticulously reviewed and sampled related documents, and conducted inquiries. They recognized that IB, with digitalization as the “main focus,” innovatively adopted various AI technologies to enhance the efficiency of archive application, achieving the full lifecycle digital management of electronic documents from creation to archiving and preservation, and realized the integrated and standardized management of group archive data, with notable achievements in all aspects.

Leveraging the construction of the digital archive as an opportunity and archive mining as the “greatest value,” IB systematically reviewed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s care, concern, and important instructions for the Bank. On this basis, a historical archives museum was established, forming a unique set of financial archive resources that left a deep impression on the experts.

Deputy Director Cai Yingfang highlighted that IB has planned and executed the construction of its digital archive for the corporate group with high standards and strategic vision, demonstrating the following notable features: Firstly, there is significant leadership attention and Party committee decision-making, resulting in the rapid completion of pilot integrations across 45 subordinate institutions and 16 systems, all synchronized with the Bank’s overall information technology planning. Secondly, there is an emphasis on enhancing collaboration, with the active establishment of agile organizations to promote integrated operations. Thirdly, there is an empowerment through technology, with the proactive application of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and microservices, which has effectively expanded the application scenarios of archival work and optimized user experience. Fourthly, the outcomes have been fruitful, encompassing a wealth of financial education resources and achieving the archiving of a massive volume of documents, providing a benchmark for the construction of digital archives in other enterprises and setting a standard in the industry.

Director Chen Ximan stated that IB’s digital archives have established a “five-in-one” modern archive management system, having archived over 60 million electronic files, more than 280 million original documents, and over 160TB of data. The project’s scale is vast, with numerous systems integrated and “rich” content, epitomizing IB’s deep commitment to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s directives on the “three directions” of archival work. He expressed his hope that IB’s archival efforts, taking this as a new starting point, will continue to implement the important instructions from General Secretary Xi Jinping on archival work, meticulously record, preserve, and utilize the corporation’s history of endeavors, innovate and develop continuously, and maintain its leading position in serving the group’s stable and far-reaching progress.

President Chen Xinjian stated that IB will deeply study and implement the spirit of the Central Financial Work Conference and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directives on archival work, emphasizing the “four goods” and “two services.” Remembering “major national concerns,” IB takes the successful pilot acceptance as a new starting point. The Bank will continue to enhance the organization and application of archival and documentary materials, utilizing modern and digital technological means. IB aims to summarize and promote its valuable spiritual and intellectual wealth, effectively narrate IB’s story domestically and internationally, and use its entrepreneurial history to inspire progress and embark on a new journey. By continuously optimizing and iterating, summarizing experiences from the digital archive management pilot, leveraging peer advantages, and providing exemplary outputs, IB is dedicated to deepening the digitalization of archives. By fully unleashing the value of digital assets, the Bank strives to serve the high-quality development of finance better and make greater contributions to building a strong financial nation and advancing China’s modernization comprehensively.
