[ESG Training] IB Holds a Bank-wide Thematic Education and Training Lecture

On September 10, the Industrial Bank (IB) held a thematic education and training lecture for all employees in honor of the 39th Teachers’ Day and the second anniversary of the IB Party School. The purposes of the lecture were to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, conscientiously implement the requirements of the CPC Central Committee on officials’ education and training work, adhere to the strategy of experts managing the Bank, and continuously improve the level of education and training work within the whole Bank. During the lecture, Lyu Jiajin, Secretary of the CPC IB Committee and the IB Chairman delivered a thematic speech entitled Implementing the Strategy of Experts Managing the Bank, and Conducting Well the Education and Training Work, and Providing Sufficient Talent Resources for High-Quality Corporate Development. The lecture was presided over by Chen Xinjian, Deputy Secretary of the CPC IB Committee and the Acting IB President, and attended by members of the CPC IB Committee of the Head Office.

Lyu pointed out that the new Party Committee, since its establishment more than two years ago, has placed great emphasis on the education and training work, strengthened the top-level design, and deepened the institutional reform. Moreover, it has encouraged the innovation of mechanisms, established specialized institutions, improved the curriculum system, expanded the teachers’ team, enriched the training platform, developed benchmark projects, promoted the transformation of talent, strengthened foreign exchanges and consolidated resource guarantees. Therefore, the education and training work has achieved remarkable results, providing important support for the Bank’s steady development. 

Lyu emphasized that 2023 is the IB’s 35th anniversary, and at this new historical starting point, IB must improve its position, look into the future, and take the education and training work as an intrinsic requirement of serving the “great development of the country”, a prerequisite for ensuring an everlasting corporate foundation and a key to promoting employees’ development, so as to enable the education and training to fully unleash the productivity and become more competitive. It is necessary for the Bank to implement policies according to individual aptitudes and promote the precise matching of education and training between supply and demand. All employees (including the labor dispatching employees) should give prominence to their comprehensive ability training, officials at all levels should highlight the management capacity training, and all kinds of talents should attach great importance to the professional ability training. According to Lyu, IB should consolidate its strengths and address its weaknesses, and combine theoretical training with practical training, offline training with online training, self-initiated training with external training, education and training with transformation and development, so as to create a more scientific and sound education and training system. It should also fulfill the responsibilities and tasks, strengthen the guarantee of sufficient human and financial resources, maintain a serious working style and disciplines, and advance the education and training work to a new level in order to promote high-quality corporate development with high-quality training.

In 2021, IB established the IB Party School (Senior IB Research and Training Institute) to take the lead in the overall management and coordination of education and training work throughout the Group. In recent years, taking this as an important platform and base, IB has continuously improved the “5+N” curriculum system, continuously strengthened the teachers’ team, increased the training funds, further promoted talent transformation of the 10,000-Talent Plan for Scientific and Technology and the 10,000-Talent Plan for Green Finance. Moreover, it has relentlessly constructed and improved the “IB Knowledge” App, and built benchmarking projects such as the “commercial bank + investment bank”, “IB Comprehensive Competition and Training Program on Risk Management”, “IB Learning Program for Special Investment Innovation Action” and “IB Connection and Power (Coordination and linkage of key talent groups in integrated finance)” by targeting key groups, key businesses and key tasks. So far, IB has completed the training of more than 2,500 lecturers and hired 70 guest professors outside the Bank. In 2022, it organized a total of 5,420 training programs (with a year-on-year increase of 10.03%) and trained 744,000 persons/times (with a year-on-year increase of 7.2%). At the same time, IB has successively won various honors, such as “The Best Enterprise of Talent Development in China” and “The Best Learning Project Award of Talent Development in China”.

The lecture was held in both on-the-spot and video forms, which was broadcast live on the “IB Knowledge” Platform, with the participation of main leaders of each subsidiary, each branch in China, and each department of the Head Office, the Deputy Head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team stationed at IB, members of the leadership team of each first-level branch and second-level branch, presidents of each branch, the top 60 lecturers of the 2022-2023 Group Elite Lecturer Challenge Event, members of the award-winning team of the 2022-2023 “IB Connection and Power” Comprehensive Digital Finance Coordination and Linkage of Key Talent Group in Actual Practice Competition Project, and members of the top 20 winning teams of the 2022-2023 IB Case Study Competition.
