[Human Resources] IB Implements a Scientific Human Resource Management System to Comprehensively Support Employees’ Development

The Industrial Bank (IB) focuses on “a scientific human resource management system” and “comprehensive support to employees’ development” in its human resource development work. Based on the overall strategic plan and current situation of talent pool, IB adheres to the principle of combining long-term and short-term goals, clarifies talent development objectives, reasonably sets up positions and scientifically allocates its human resources. To implement comprehensive support to employees’ development, IB has been making efforts in the following five aspects.

The concept and system of diversity and fairness. From recruiting and employing diversified talents to establishing various communication channels, IB implements the concept of diversity into every aspect of employees’ development. By the end of 2022, it achieved balanced development in various aspects of personnel structure, shared 3,474 business cases on internal platforms and received 2,467 pieces of employee suggestions, with an adoption rate of 63%. The job satisfaction of IB’s employees scored 96.36 points in the year.

Abundant training and development opportunities. “Developing and improving oneself to realize the goal through helping and supporting others’ achievement.” IB seeks to offer high-quality training and through a digital management, it provides diversified learning resources, covering the needs of employees at all levels. In 2022, there were 5,421 training programs, with a covering rate of 95.72%. By the end of June 2023, the “IB Knowledge” Platform has offered 14,741 courses in total. IB encourages all employees to be “multi-skilled in one aspect” and to hold “multi-certificates in one aspect”, and provides reasonable financial support to employees’ certificates examination. Moreover, IB guarantees its diversified training resources, explores and promotes university-enterprise cooperation, and implements the dual-track development mode of management and professional sequences to broaden the talents’ growth channels.

A sound employees recruitment and retention mechanism. In terms of recruitment, IB carries out targeted talent recruitment to make up for talent shortage, and implements talent exchange activities systematically to enhance talents’ capabilities. It builds a forward-looking workplace environment to enhance employees’ sense of belongings. At present, there are 16 ongoing talent introduction plans and talent pool projects within the Bank, and the number of science and technology talents has grown to 6,700 persons, with an increase of nearly 6% over the figure in 2020. In recent two years, IB’s employee turnover rate has been lower than 10%. In 2022, IB won the “2022 China Best Employer Award”.

A comprehensive salary and caring welfare system. IB builds a fair and just remuneration mechanism, adheres to the principle of “equal pay for equal work” and designs a scientific and diverse performance evaluation system. It improves the corporate welfare system, including the comprehensive medical insurance for employees and their families, and all employees can enjoy abundant holidays such as various types of annual leaves. In addition, IB establishes dedicated internal institutions to provide care for retired employees. Currently, there are over 200 institutions in China available for employees’ physical examination, covering more than 150 cities nationwide. In 2022, the coverage rate of employees’ physical examination was 100%.

Construction of a simple, harmonious, healthy and friendly working environment. IB provides comprehensive healthcare services for its employees, including equipment with barrier-free infrastructures and medical emergence resources. It pays attention to employees’ physical and mental health, regularly organizes physical examination and physical counseling activities for them, visits and comforts the employees in need, improves the trade union institution, and conducts a variety of recreational activities. By the end of 2022, the number of IB’s employee benefit recipients has been over 56,000 persons/times through the “Online IB Workers Home” platform it launched.
