On June 26, the Chief Supervisor Chen Xinjian chaired the key ESG work deployment meeting of IB Head Office in Fuzhou To further improve the ESG rating work, maintain and enhance IB’s leading advantage in ESG, and promote the forging of the ESG management system with “IB characteristics”. The heads of relevant departments of the Head Office and the subsidiaries, including the leaders of the CIB Research and CIB Wealth Management, attended the meeting.

The meeting debriefed the general situation and indicator description of the external ESG rating of IB reported by the Office of the Board of Directors and the Board of Supervisors, comprehensively discussed and studied IB’s constraint indicators and the gap with other domestic banks on ESG development, and pointed out IB’s urgent needs of conducting substantive reforms and transforming the indicator requirements into specific measures to be implemented. At the meeting, it has made a comprehensive deployment of the main points of ESG work in 2023, and clarified that relevant institutions should have a clear understanding of the constraints, weaknesses, data depressions and non-disclosures of IB’s ESG rating indicators, and should strengthen collaboration, improve the abilities in comprehensive governance, value creation, digital transformation, addressing climate change and information disclosure. The IB departments concerned should take effective measures to transform the 23 main points of ESG work into behavioral habits and work patterns, and promote the forging of an ESG management system with “IB characteristics”. Meanwhile, it has also made a comprehensive deployment of ESG key work and implementation mechanism for the next stage, and pointed out to continue to improve the ESG specification system and disclosure standards, refine ESG-related tasks and reinforcing measures one by one. Moreover, the platform on ESG performance management data should be strengthened prospectively to further improve the rating of key ESG indicators, effectively reshaping the leading edge, and, on this basis, further transforming the ESG ratings into the reference standards and implementation tools so as to improve the self-management abilities gradually.
