(VI) Troubleshooting for Business Express POS Machine

Symptom

Solution

The host shows“dialing fails, delays, or the line is occupied”

1 ) Check whether the telephone line to connect POS has be en plugged into the “telephone/internet” socket;

2 ) Check whether the telephone line has be en connected securely and whether there is any dialing tone;

3 ) Check whether the machine is moved or not (maybe the extension and direct lines need to be reset anew).

The screen of the host of split -type POS shows “base fault”

1 ) Restart the machine and put the handset in place properly;

2 ) Wipe up the contact point between infrared port on the back of the machine and base port;

The host shows “invalid merchant” or “the terminal number is not correct, please contact the issuing bank”

1 ) Restart the machine, first sign out and then sign in;

2 ) Check whether the POS machine is not used for a long period. Based on relevant provisions, if a merchant does not use POS for a long period, the transaction via POS will be closed temporarily. Then, it needs to be reactivated again. The merchant may contact the special customer manager of IB or dial the nationwide customer service hotline 95561.

POS shows “no response to card swip ing ”, “incorrect operation”, or “damaged magnetic track”

1 ) Check whether the swiping gesture is correct or not. A correct gesture can help the complete reading of magnetic track information for bank card;

2 ) Maybe the machine has “crashed”, so the merchant may restart it;

3 ) Check whether the bank card used by the customer gets damaged or not, and try another card for testing.

The screen shows “successful transaction”, but does not print the receipt

1 ) Try the function of “reprinting the previous transaction”;

2 ) Check whether the POS machine has printing paper available or is there any foreign matter or paper stuck inside the printing slot.

The host shows “incorrect PIN format”

1) Restart the machine, first sign out and then sign in;

2) Plug out and plug in again, and connect the cipher keyboard securely;

3) If it cannot be changed, the machine should be returned for repairing.

POS screen has no display

1 ) Check whether the POS power socket is connected well;

2 ) Check whether the power supply is opened.

The machine cannot go through self examination

Cut off power, shut down the machine, plug out and plug in again, connect the cipher keyboard securely, and then restart the machine.

The host shows “incorrect password” upon swiping

1. Ask the cardholder whether he or she enters a wrong password;

2. The merchant is recommended to require the cardholder to contact the issuing bank.

The host shows “MAC verification fails”

1. Sign in again for transaction;

2. If the problem cannot be solved, the merchant may contact the special customer manager of IB or dial the nationwide customer service hotline 95561.

There is no response upon pressing any key on POS machine, and the machine gets halted.

Cut off the power and restart the machine.

The specially-engaged merchant shall keep the POS machine properly and may not disassemble or relocate the machine.
