ASN Bank Adopts the Equator Principles

On 25 November 2009, ASN Bank (Netherlands) announced its commitment to the Equator Principles. This means that the bank will assess future financing projects in accordance with the Equator Principles and the social and environmental criteria in the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards. ASN Bank has been applying its own sustainability criteria in the granting of credit for a number of years. The reason that the ASN Bank has chosen to adopt the Equator Principles is that the projects in invests in are becoming greater in number and scale, and therefore it requires international financing benchmarks such as the Equator Principles that assess the environmental and social risks in financing projects to guide its project finance. By adopting the Equator Principles, the ASN Bank has reaffirmed its policy operate its business in a socially responsible manner and in accordance with the requirements for sound environmental and social management.
