A New Member of the Equator Principles—Eksportfinans ASA

On 1 September 2010, Eksportfinans ASA officially announced its commitment to the Equator Principles. The Equator Principles are a voluntary set of guidelines for determining, assessing and managing social and environmental risks in project financing. Since their establishment in 2003, nearly 70 international financial institutions have adopted the Equator Principles, including the majority of the world’s major project lenders. The Equator Principles apply to all new financings projects globally whose total capital costs exceed US$10 million. They cover all industry sectors. The adoption of the Equator Principles is consistent with Eksportfinans’ commitment to participating in environmentally and socially sustainable projects, and will be an important tool in further ensuring its sustainable project financing. Eksportfinans is a commercially-run Norwegian government institute that provides long-term financing for the export industry. (Source: the Official Website of the Equator Principles)TOP
