IB Wins the “Best Social Responsibility Report Award in the Finance and Insurance Industry” and was Invited to Introduce Its Experiences in the Equator Principles at a Special Forum

On September 16, the “2010 Summit Forum on the Social Responsibility Reports and Social Responsibility Investment of A Listed Companies & the Appraisal and Awards Ceremony for the Social Responsibility Reports of Listed Companies” was held in Beijing. During the event, IB was granted the “Best Social Responsibility Report Award for the Finance and Insurance Industry” by Hexun Web and Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and was invited to introduce its experiences in the implementation of the Equator Principles during a themed round-table forum.

 

The appraisal for the “2010 Summit Forum on the Social Responsibility Reports and Social Responsibility Investment of A Listed Companies & the Appraisal and Awards Ceremony for the Social Responsibility Reports of Listed Companies” was made by Rankins CSR Ratings, the only social responsibility rating institution in China. The event was jointly sponsored by Hexun Web, a professional financial media organization, and Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an advanced global management institution. Themed “Focusing on Responsibility Information Disclosure and Advocating Responsibility Investment”, the forum aims at rationally and objectively reviewing the disclosure of social responsibility reports by listed companies in 2010, advocating and promoting the standardization of CSR information disclosure by listed companies, boosting the development of professional report appraisal mechanisms, promoting the awareness of socially responsible investment among investors and establishing a six-in-one professional communication platform for corporate social responsibility reports that involves government departments, stock exchange markets, investment institutions, listed companies, CSR professional institutions and the mainstream media). The forum was divided into three parts: Social Responsibility Report Awards, speeches about the composition of social responsibility reports and a special round-table forum on responsible investment.

 

During the Awards Ceremony, the organizer of the event presented the IB with the “Best Social Responsibility Report Award for the Finance and Insurance Industry” in full recognition of the 2009 Social Responsibility Report issued by the IB. In March 2003, IB published its 2009 social responsibility reports, entitled “2009 Annual Sustainability Report of Industrial Bank Co., Ltd”. This was the first sustainable development report in the domestic banking industry, and the first social responsibility report centered on sustainable development. At the round-table forum, which was themed “the Past and Present of Responsible Investment”, the Industrial Bank IB was invited to deliver a speech on its experiences in the implementation of the Equator Principles. The bank shared its insight on how to drive other corporations and entire industries to focus on and fulfill their social responsibilities by leveraging the unique advantages that banks possess in economic and social development, thereby maximizing the performance of social responsibilities.
