General Manager Hua Bing of the Legal and Compliance Department of the Industrial Bank was elected as a member of GRI Stakeholder Council

General Manager Hua Bing of Legal and Compliance Department of Industrial Bank was elected as a member of GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Stakeholder Council, and he was invited to attend the first China GRI Reporters Conference held by Global Reporting Initiative in Beijing on November 23, 2010.

GRI is an international organization that provides a regulative framework for institutions around the globe to prepare sustainability reports. “Sustainability Reporting Guidelines” compiled by GRI has become one of the standards used most extensively by enterprises around the world in preparing social responsibility or sustainability reports. The Stakeholder Council is a part of GRI’s governing body, responsible for providing advice and opinions to the GRI Board of Directors with regard to development, strategy formulation of GRI, interests of the council, and other important issues. Paying attention to balancing the benefits among different regions and categories, the council has members (enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and individuals) from different regions, such as Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, North America and Europe, etc., and different industries, such as petrochemical, finance, manufacturing, etc.

With the invitation of GRI, Industrial Bank recommended General Manager Hua Bing of Legal and Compliance Department at the Head Office as a candidate in July 2010 to participate in the election of the members for the new Stakeholder Council held by GRI. Through a range of new election procedures – nominations, voting of organization stakeholders, and voting of present members, etc., General Manager Hua Bing was elected as a member of the GRI Stakeholder Council. He will start performing the duties required of members from January 1, 2011. General Manager Hua Bing will become a member of the new Stakeholder Council, which will help the Industrial Bank to gain information about social responsibilities and sustainability, with GRI as a good platform. It may also get professional advice and support from GRI, and make known the sustainability practices of the IB, so as to construct an extensive cooperative network. Meanwhile, this will facilitate the standard practice for reporting international sustainabable development to further mirror the voices and demands of Chinese enterprises and drive the sustainability report’s best practice in China.
