Industrial Bank Won “the 8th China Best Corporate Citizen Prize in 2011”

On December 4, 2011, IB won the “8th China Best Corporate Citizen Prize in 2010” sponsored by 21st Century Business Herald and 21st Century Business Review, both of which are affiliated to the commercial media institution – 21st Century News Group.

The main purpose of “Appraisal and Selection of China Best Corporate Citizens”is to encourage citizenship behaviors of Chinese enterprises through seeking and recording a range of outstanding corporate practices of enterprises that may be taken as models. The activity has been held successfully for eight times since 2004, evoking good repercussions in the society and business circle and gaining extensive recognitions. The theme of this forum is “what truly is within will be manifested without – the way for growth and communication in a transparent age”. The private room of enterprise is disappearing and corporate citizen has become an indispensable base line. How to communicate with all stakeholders is a compulsory course for enterprises in this transparent age to grow into corporate citizens.

By 2011, IB has won the “Best Chinese Corporate Citizen Prize” for five years consecutively, which is an acknowledgement to the efforts and achievements made by IB which adheres to performing the social responsibilities of a commercial bank and develops sustainable finance. As the forerunner of green credit in China, IB initiatively released loans to the energy conservation and emission reduction projects in China and became the first Chinese equator bank. Putting forward the social responsibility idea of “obtaining reasonable profits while bringing benefits to the stakeholders”, the bank elevated the concepts of social responsibility and sustainable finance to a strategic level to drive the sustainable development of economy, society and environment. This appraisal is helpful for external media and institutions to know better the efforts and practices made by IB in the fields of corporate social responsibility and sustainable finance, to promote the experience of IB to a wider range of banking institutions and other entities, and to boost the development of China’s sustainable finance cause.
