Industrial Bank Won the Annual CSR Award of Chinese Banking Industry for the Fifth Consecutive Time

On June 26, at the "Conference for Release of 2014 CSR Report for Chinese Banking Industry and the Commendation for Corporate Social Responsibility" held by China Banking Association (CBA), Industrial Bank (IB) won three prizes, "Annual Best Corporate Social Responsibility Financial Institution Award", "Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Award for Best Green Finance" and "Annual Best Management Award of Corporate Social Responsibility". Specifically, it is the fifth consecutive time that the bank won the "Annual Best Corporate Social Responsibility Financial Institution Award" and "Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Award for Best Green Finance".

Behind the honors are the corporate governance philosophy of sustainable development to "explore different ways to promote the bank to practice social responsibility and construct a good relationship where human being coexists with the nature, environment and society harmoniously" which IB has adhered to and the unremitting efforts and perseverance that the bank has kept digging into green finance and inclusive finance, served the real economy substantially and perform corporate social responsibility in an active manner for years.

Practice the philosophy of "obtaining reasonable profits while bringing benefits to the stakeholders" with actions

In IB, corporate social responsibility has long been covered into the corporate governance, which shows the exceptional stress put on this regard by the bank. The bank established the work leading group for corporate social responsibility led by Board Chairman Gao Jianping as early as 2007, and innovatively put forward the corporate social responsibility practice philosophy of "obtaining reasonable profits while bringing benefits to the stakeholders", combining the performance of corporate social responsibility with the products and services of the bank and implementing the philosophy into every management and operation link of the bank.

Among others, green finance can be regarded as one of the best practice samples for IB's philosophy of "obtaining reasonable profits while bringing benefits to the stakeholders". As the commercial bank engaging in environment finance at the earliest time and the first Equator bank in China, now IB has, based on years of innovation and exploration, built up three types of major financial service, namely energy conservation and emission reduction financing service, emission right financial service and personal low-carbon financial service, covered both corporate and personal financial businesses in terms of green financial products and services, and given consideration to environmental, social and economic benefits, thus gradually opening a road of sustainable development from "green" to "gold".

By the end of March 2015, the bank has accumulatively granted nearly RMB 624.252 billion of green finance based financing to 3,928 enterprises, with the green finance based financing balance hitting RMB 316.505 billion. The projects supported with such financing could save 23.5162 million tons of coal equivalents within China each year, reduce 68.7993 million tons of carbon dioxide, utilized 17.2904 million tons of solid waste in an integrated manner, and saved 262.2906 million tons of water.

Meanwhile, relying on the leading "bank-bank platform" in China, IB has transmitted advanced management experience, financial products and technological capability to the small- and medium-sized financial institutions in the cities of the third and fourth tiers and rural areas, and improved the coverage and level of equivalent financial services enjoyed by residents and small- and mini-sized customers in the cities of the third and fourth tiers, rural areas and remote areas and at the terminal indirectly, thus practicing "inclusive finance" in the real sense.

By the end of March 2015, the "bank-bank platform" has had 579 signed banks, networking more than 34,000 counter pass outlets. This means that customers of rural commercial banks and rural credit cooperatives can handle services at the outlets networked by the "bank-bank platform" nationwide and enjoy modern financial services if they hold a card.

 Sincere service rooted in hearts

While protecting "mountains and rivers", IB has, adhering to the business philosophy of "Growing Together with Sincere Service", supported the national development strategy firmly, served the livelihood and real economy actively, and perform the corporate citizen obligations to the end by bringing into play the power of finance.

On the one hand, IB has, resorting to diversified financing, lent sustained support to the construction of indemnificatory housing, improved the dwelling conditions of people, and supported the development of medical service and health, education cause, and culture industry closely related to the livelihood and welfare of people. On the other hand, bringing into full play the multi-license and group-based business advantages, the bank actively got involved in national development strategies such as "One Belt One Road", development of free trade zone, coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and development of Yangtze River Economic Belt, released the overall development planning for the area along "One Belt One Road", and contributed to the establishing the special silk road fund of the largest scale in China. It accelerated the building free trade zone branches, and lent full support for enterprises to "go abroad". It arranged a scale of RMB 20 billion as special loans and RMB 20 billion as special risk assets for the integrated projects of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei…

In order to further increase the financial support to small- and mini-sized enterprises, the bank has kept sinking its focus of service since 2014. It has launched the "Cultivation Program for the Growth of Small- and Mini-sized Enterprises" to keep broadening the coverage of financial services to small- and mini-sized enterprises, and innovatively released a range products including the three pertinent products of financing for small- and mini-sized enterprises, "Easy & Quick Loan", "Consecutive Loan", and "Trading Loan", and "Online Self-service Circulating Loan" for small- and mini-sized enterprises, with a view to solving the problems of difficult and costly financing which harass small- and mini-sized enterprises. Meanwhile, the bank granted personal start-up (business support) loans. It launched the "Start-up Loan" for small- and mini-sized start-up customers in pilot cities to support people to start their own businesses and to make innovations, granting RMB 12 million in as short as three months.

IB has also made great efforts to develop community finance, bridging the last 1 kilometer for financial service. It is fused into communities actively to offer service at the doorway of residents. By the end of this first quarter, IB has 586 community sub-branches with licenses put into operation. The bank has offered new services and products, such as prolonged service, exclusive product for senior citizens, remote counter teller bank, free Wi-Fi, and organizing various customer activities, which are refreshing for the common people who thus clearly feel that "financial services can be so considerate and warm". It is fused into communities actively to offer service at the doorway of residents. By the end of this first quarter, IB has 586 community sub-branches with licenses put into operation. The bank has offered new services and products, such as prolonged service, exclusive product for senior citizens, remote counter teller bank, free Wi-Fi, and organizing various customer activities, which are refreshing for the common people who thus clearly feel that "financial services can be so considerate and warm".

While building considerate offline channels, IB has also kept developing the Internet platforms and enriching the convenient electronic banking channels so as to meet the diversified financial needs of the general public. IB has kept developing new services out of the old regarding online channels such as internet banking, mobile banking and WeChat banking, with a range of Internet products enjoying great popularity, such as "Money Manager", Direct Bank, and "Industrial Treasure". Online medical services such as "Bank-hospital Pass" and "Hospital in Hand" mitigate the situations of long waiting and difficult access to doctors effectively, not only winning great popularity among the common people but also recognition of medical institutions.

It is noteworthy that, IB developed and launched the first ATM for the blind in China in 2014, becoming the first Chinese bank offering self-service financial service to the blind. Yang Zaiping, Vice President (full time) of CBA, once commented: "This is not only the first step made by the Chinese banking industry in the progress of electronic channel accessibility, but also a great stride taken by the Chinese banking industry to share the fruits of economic and financial development with the disabled citizens and push the social civilization and progress, and an action to develop inclusive finance with great efforts."

It has become a normal situation for IB to take public benefit oriented actions such as donation for school assistance, disaster relief and resistance, and poverty alleviation. According to incomplete statistics, IB has donated hundreds of millions of RMB for purposes of charity and public benefits. In 2014, outward donations made by the bank totaled RMB 54 million, and the bank also won the "China Charity Award for Outstanding Contribution" presented by China Charity Federation (CCF).
