It calls for individuals, communities, enterprises and governments are advocated to turn off light from 20:30 to 21:30 on the last Saturday of each March. The initiative is intended to appeal to the people around the world to economize energy, pay attention to climate changes in order to protect our living environment. In 2010, the initiative of “Earth Hour” influenced over 1.3 billion people. In China, the initiative was supported by over 33 municipal governments and responded to by millions of Chinese. An increasing number of cities in the world participate in the initiative and has become a milestone of the Earth Hour initiative in response to global warming. Unlike previous years, Earth Hour 2011 will not be limited to turning off lights in response to global warming. While proposing turning off lights for one hour, Earth Hour will also be dedicated to promoting sustainable environmental protection.

As the first Equator Bank in China, IB participated in Earth Hour for the first time in 2010 and appealed to the entire staff and customers to simply turn off lights for one hour in support of energy-saving, emissions reduction, improve awareness of environment and climate problems and earth care and to support the sustainable development of the society, economy and environment by way of environment protection and low-carbon behavior.
