IB Invited to the Seminar on Social Responsibility of the Banking Industry organized by the

China Banking Regulatory Commission

On March 23, 2011, the Legal and compliance Department of IB’s Head Office sent representatives to participate in the Seminar on Social Responsibility of the Banking Industry, which was organized by China Banking Regulatory Commission in Beijing. At the seminar, IB’s representatives discussed the current status and problems in the fulfillment of social responsibilities by China’s banking industry and raised their opinions and suggestions.

China Banking Regulatory Commission, China Banking Association, and Shanghai Stock Exchange have successively issued documents on the social responsibility of the banking industry, which play an important role in urging bankers to fulfill their social responsibilities. The purpose of the seminar was to sum up the progress of the implementation of social responsibilities by China’s banking industry and to discuss on how to promote the fulfillment of social responsibilities by the China banking industry.

At the Seminar, IB’s representatives reported on IB’s fulfillment of social responsibilities, standards and the framework adopted for the reporting on the fulfillment of social responsibilities, and IB’s understanding and practice of green credit policies, Equator Principles, social accountability ISO 26000 international standard, Guide to Reports on Sustainable Development of GRI and other issues. The report made by IB’s representatives was well spoken of by participants. Moreover, IB’s representatives also introduced IB’s understanding in promoting social responsibility and sustainable finance and raised suggestions on how supervisory institutions and banking associations shall strengthen the guidelines and training in the social responsibility of the banking industry.

The seminar is conducive to promoting IB’s interaction with supervisory authorities in the work of social responsibility, enhancing the exchanges between IB and industry counterparts in the work of social responsibilities work and also to promoting IB’s implementation of social responsibility work in the future.
