Industrial Bank Carried Out Promotion and Implementation Activities around the Theme of “Equator Banks and Green Finance” across IB

In October 2011, in order to further promote the concept of sustainability and green finance, Industrial Bank carried out a series of study, promotion and implementation activities around the theme of “Equator Banks and Green Finance”.

The study, promotion and implementation activities aim to transmit relevant concepts on the Equator Principles and green finance across IB through knowledge promotion, communication and studying, knowledge testing and situation reporting. Lasting for a month, the activities were gradually advanced in four stages: self-studying of basic knowledge about the Equator Principles, studying and communication, knowledge testing, and result publication and summarization. The contents of promotion and implementation not only covered the basic concepts and relevant knowledge of the Equator Principles, and the strategic consideration and adoption process of IB in implementing the Equator Principles, but also included the policies of IB on environmental and social risks, management arrangement, and requirements and operational norms for the management of Equator Principles projects. In addition, the activities also covered the efforts that IB made over recent years to boost the sustainability of Chinese banking and global banking.

To guarantee that the promotion and implementation activities could be advanced in a smooth and efficient manner, the relevant departments of the IB Head Office established a promotion and implementation group to provide backstage support respectively in the aspects of studying, interaction, and inspection of study results. At the same time, IB also provided diversified channels for its employees to study and communicate with each other, such as a databases with both paper and electronic study materials, internet-based study platforms (e.g., the official sustainable finance website, overall compliance management system, and Equator Principles Microblog of IB), and communication hotline.

The promotion and implementation activities around the theme of “Equator Banks and Green Finance” by IB across IB were not only to promote and publicize knowledge, but also to make ideological improvement and transform behavior. In addition, this campaign also required every employee of the first Chinese Equator bank to learn about and know of the Equator Principles, and to blend the concepts promoted by the Equator Principles into the daily business development of IB.
