Industrial Bank Ranked Front in the Ranking of Listed Companies Regarding Non-financial Information Disclosure

The Report on Non-financial Information Disclosure of Chinese Listed Companies (2011), published by the Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP) recently, gives an overall evaluation over the non-financial information disclosure of “Shanghai-Shenzhen 300” index constituent stock enterprises and provides a ranking. Industrial Bank (IB) ranked No. 16 in the overall ranking of companies listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) regarding non-financial information disclosure, and No. 5 in the banking category that IB belongs to.

The Report on Non-financial Information Disclosure of Chinese Listed Companies (2011) was jointly compiled by the Research Center for Corporate Social Responsibility of the Economics Department, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Research Center for Corporate Social Responsibility of Chinese Listed Companies. In the report, the non-financial information disclosure refers to the social and environmental information disclosed by enterprises on their own initiatives other than the financial information. Selecting the “Shanghai-Shenzhen 300” index constituent stock enterprises in large scales, which boast sound liquidity and high typicality, in the A-share market of China as the samples, the report followed the “four-in-one” framework including responsibility management, market responsibility, social responsibility and environmental responsibility and the main lines of annual disclosure (corporate social responsibility report), routine disclosure (official website of enterprise) and temporary disclosure (special disclosure of major social and environmental influences by enterprises), evaluated and analyzed their non-financial information disclosures in an all-round manner with a view to assessing the non-financial information disclosure level of Chinese Listed Companies.

The disclosure of non-financial information by an enterprise showcases its performance of social responsibilities. As a listed company, IB has given consideration to the interests of multiple stakeholders, and disclosed non-financial information to the outside by way of sustainable development report, official website, official microblog, media, and petitions and feedbacks. Moreover, it has innovatively disclosed the information about enterprise environment and social risk management to promote the concept of sustainable development, for instance, setting the column “Sustainability” in its official website, and disclosing the annual implementation of the Equator Principles in the sustainable development report. The bank maintains a front position in the banking industry as regards the performance of social responsibilities in disclosing non-financial information.
