Earthquake Relief Work

At 09:19 p.m. on August 8, 2017, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province (33.20 degrees north latitude, 103.88 degrees east longitude). After the earthquake, Industrial Bank Chengdu Branch immediately launched a contingency plan for major natural disasters. On the one hand, it promptly investigated whether the institutions under its jurisdiction were affected by the earthquake and ensured the safety of people and banks property. On the other hand, it set up "Green Channel" to guarantee the real-time remittance of all kinds of disaster relief funds, and through 95561 customer service hotline, took the initiative to send customers disaster early warning and disaster and loss prevention information, and contact the customers around the disaster area or having the plan to go to those areas to understand their demands.

Poverty Alleviation  

IB carried out cooperation on poverty alleviation with Fujian Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and Association of Poverty Alleviation & Development, planning to donate RMB 200,000 every year during 2016 - 2020.

Student Help Fund  

In 2017, IB signed a two-year donation agreement with Fujian Province Charity Federation to provide 5 million to 100 college students in five universities in the province.

Loving Business

In the World Environment Day in 2017, IB participated in the Tencent Welfare Step Donation activity and implemented the corporate public welfare in the innovative way that "you donate steps and I donate money". By the evening of the activity day, more than 360,000 WeChat Sports users have participated in the event and donated over 500,000 steps. Meanwhile IB donated RMB 500,000 to support the "Coastal Wetland Protection Project" of Shenzhen Mangrove Forest Wetland Protection Foundation.

Earthquake and Disaster Relief

In October 2005, Typhoon Longwang caused serious disaster to all districts of Fujian, and IB donated RMB 2.20 million to support the reconstruction of the disaster-stricken areas.

In 2006, the coastal areas were attacked by Typhoon Saomai , and IB donated RMB 550,000 to the Fujian Branch of the Red Cross Society of China for disaster relief.

In 2007, IB donated RMB 4.289 million to the disaster and poverty stricken areas.

In the spring of 2008, IB donated RMB 402,500 to the people in the areas attacked by snow disaster in Southern China at the earliest possible time.

After the massive earthquake attacked Wenchuan, Sichuan on May 12, 2008, IB actively responded to the call of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and donated RMB 22.94 million to the disaster-stricken area accumulatively, of which RMB 10 million was donated by the bank as a company and RMB 8.78 million by the employees of the bank, and RMB 4.16 million was the “special party membership dues” paid by the 3,720 party members of IB. 2,555 employees of the bank donated blood voluntarily. Among all the national joint-stock banks, IB was the first one to extend loans of RMB 200 million for the post-disaster reconstruction. Among similar banks across China, IB was the first one to provide special loans for post-disaster reconstruction, supporting the reconstruction of municipal facilities in the disaster-stricken cities, such as road, drainage and bridge, and the relocation and reconstruction of dilapidated houses for people in the disaster-stricken areas.

In August 2009, Typhoon Morakot, not being seen for 50 years, hit the central and southern areas of Taiwan, causing great losses to the lives and properties of Taiwan people. IB donated RMB 2 million to the disaster-stricken areas of Taiwan via the Fujian Branch of the Red Cross Society of China.

In 2009, under the organization of IB, the employees of the bank donated over RMB 380,000 to the “Special Olympics” which would be held in Fujian Province in 2010.

On November 21, 2009, Xinxing Coal Mine of Heilongjiang Longmay Mining Holding Group Co., Ltd. Hegang Branch encountered gas accident. Upon the crucial time of emergency rescue and disaster relief, IB Harbin Branch donated RMB 200,000 as the disaster relief funds to the Heilongjiang Longmay Mining Holding Group Co., Ltd., supporting the group to organize rescuing and relieving works, handle post-disaster matters and restore production. 

At the beginning of 2010, a massive drought, rarely seen in history, attacked Southwest China, greatly impairing the production and life of the people there. IB Nanning Branch and Ningbo Branch actively organized and mobilized the Communist Youth League members in the branches to participate in the drought relief campaign and make donations to the disaster-stricken areas so as to make contribution to the people in drought-plagued areas.

On April 14, 2010, Yushu County, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai was attacked by a violent earthquake, and all employees of IB were worrying about the disaster. Actively responding to the call of the CPC Central Committee, IB attended the evening party for donation which was jointly sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and the Red Cross Society of China, and undertaken by CCTV, donating RMB 15 million on site, the highest amount among all present commercial banks. Meanwhile, the bank put forward the proposal of “donating a day’s salary”, and called on all employees to pay attention to the disaster and express their love so as to help the people in the disaster-stricken areas to get through the disaster and rebuild their homes. At the same time, IB also took urgent action to organize financial services to support the disaster relief, offering priority channels for donations at the earliest possible time. Customers may make donations to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Red Cross Society of China, China Red Cross Foundation, and China Charity Federation via IB’s internet banking system and mobile banking system, and no charges will be collected for handling such transfer and payment.

In June 2010, Fujian, where the Head Office of IB is located, was attacked by extraordinary rainstorms. IB immediately mobilized the employees to carry forward the spirit “when disaster strikes, help comes from all sides”, donating RMB 1 million (including the amount donated by employees) to the disaster-stricken areas via Fujian Charity Federation.

Since July 16, 2010, the extraordinary once-a-century flood had attacked Southern Shaanxi. The flood led to such secondary disasters as torrent, landslide, and debris flow, causing immense losses to the lives and properties of the people. In order to support the earthquake and disaster relief and help the people in the disaster-stricken areas to get through the disaster, IB Xi’an Branch made generous donation up to RMB 500,000 to the disaster-affected areas.

On August 8, 2010, extreme flash flood and debris flow occurred in Zhouqu County, Gansu Province due to heavy rainfall, causing serious casualty and economic losses. And in order to help the people in the disaster-stricken areas to restore production and rebuild their homes as early as possible, people within IB donated money and goods to the areas.

Poverty Alleviation

From 2005 to 2008, IB dispatched cadres to the poverty-stricken villages of Xiapu County to serve temporary positions, imbursing RMB 900,000 to help these villages construct “Xingye” bridges and build “Xingye” roads and teaching buildings.

IB provided designated assistance to Huangtuqiu Village, Tielu Village, and Shangqi Village of Xiapu County, poverty-stricken Nanqiao Village of Pingnan County, and poverty-stricken Pinhe Village of Zhangzhou City of Fujian Province, extending poverty-alleviating funds and road construction funds to help these villages construct bridges and roads, build teaching buildings and drinking water facilities, and establish “benefits projects”. In March, Shangqi Village was attached by a fire, and the employees of IB Headquarters donated RMB 84,695.

IB Nanchang Branch provided designated assistance to the poverty-stricken villages of Ji’an City, raising funds for the construction of new countryside, including the poverty alleviation funds of RMB 100,000 to build roads.

IB Ningde Branch invested RMB 230,000 project funds for the construction in poverty-stricken villages in Eastern Fujian, accomplishing such poverty-alleviating development projects as the construction of new countryside, construction of rural roads, and rural drinking water project.

IB Fuzhou Branch extended RMB 742 million loans to give key support to the “leading project” for the construction of rural highways and the development of county-level power supply enterprises.

In 2007, IB Nanping Branch began to dispatch a cadre to Pingcheng Village, Pingnan County, Ningde to serve temporarily as the Village Party Branch Secretary, giving ideas to help the local villagers to shake off poverty and become rich.

On November 13, 2009, young employees of IB went to the attached poverty alleviation point – the Primary School of Shangqi Village, Beibi Village, Xiapu County, Ningde, Fujian, to carry out paired assistance activities.

By the end of 2009, IB Chengdu Branch has accumulatively donated over RMB 1 million to support the charity and public benefit causes of Sichuan and help needy groups to shake off poverty. The branch launched the “Six One” project among party members, cadres and employees, to build a Xingye Hope Primary School, a Xingye boulevard, a modern agricultural base, a Xingye health center, a Xingye gerocomium, and a modern library in the poverty-stricken rural area.

On February 9, 2010, IB Huhhot Branch was put into operation with a low profile, and donated the funds saved at the opening celebration to the remote pasture to solve the electricity problem of pasture farmers. At the celebration, the branch donated RMB 200,000 (RMB 500,000 accumulatively for three years) to the poverty-stricken pasture farmers in Plain Blue Banner of Xilin Gol league.

On April 19, 2010, IB Changchun Branch held a simple opening ceremony, and donated RMB 200,000 saved to assist the poverty-stricken employees in the city.

On September 16, 2010, IB Huhhot Branch donated RMB 50,000 to build the Xingye Woods at the intersection of Shengli Road jointly with Xincheng District People’s Government, changing the dirty, disordered and shabby situation at the road section with a green plot overflowing with vigor. In the coming five years, it is estimated that the branch would further invest RMB 250,000 to expand and maintain the Xingye Woods.

In 2011, IB launched another round of poverty alleviation campaign, investigating the two key villages supported by the bank in particular. The bank specified the key support projects to the impoverished villages and planned to invest RMB 1.45 million to support the development of the poverty-stricken villages in the coming three years.

Before the Spring Festival of 2011, IB Dalian Branch launched the activity to alleviate poverty and give love, aiming at helping low-income families, families with unemployed parents, lonely elderly people, and children of migrant workers. The bank established seven warmness conveying teams and took seven outlets as the centers radiating over 10 communities around, bringing money and goods as well as the sincerity and love of IB to over 130 needy households.

Donation for School Assistance

IB Beijing Branch raised RMB 44,400 for school assistance to poverty-stricken students in six middle and primary schools in Xiongerzai Village and Zhenluoying Village of Pinggu District each year from 2006 to 2008.

Xingye Hope Primary School constructed in Jinxing Village of Dayi County by IB Chengdu Branch with the donation over RMB 300,000 was opened smoothly, providing children of school age around 10 km away from the school with education.

IB Xiamen Branch donated in two times RMB 100,000 to Xiamen University as the fund for the construction and development of national key disciplines in the Finance Department and as the support for the department to carry out research into relevant topics.

IB, relying on the work platform of Fujian Provincial Charity Federation, donated RMB 10 million to set up “Industrial Bank Charity Grant”, which would, in five years from 2007 to 2012, be given to 100 impoverished students who have excellent academic performance and high morality in each of the following five universities: Xiamen University, Fuzhou University, Fujian Normal University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and Jimei University.

In May 2009, upon the anniversary of “May 12” Sichuan Earthquake, IB, responding to the proposal of “caring for the growth of children in the disaster-affected areas and donating excellent children books” jointly issued by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Civilization Office of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Education, and the General Administration of Press and Publication, organized the representative members of the Youth League to visit children from Sichuan studying at Fuzhou Sunshine International School, and all the gifts were donated or bought by the employees on their own initiatives.

In 2010, IB continued to establish the “IB Scholarship for the Wellbeing of the Youth” for a period of five years jointly with Fujian Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth. From 2010 to 2014, the bank would donate RMB 180,000 each year to reward a total of 180 impoverished students with excellent academic performance and high morality in three colleges and universities, donating RMB 900,000 in total for five years. Meanwhile, IB provided the “Industrial Bank Charity Grant” for 500 students in five colleges and universities of Fujian Province in collaboration with Fujian Provincial Charity Federation for the fourth year consecutively, donating RMB 2 million in total in this year.

IB Nanping Branch provided funds to support the construction of “Xingye Kindergarten of Heping Town” in Heping Town of Shaowu City, creating good conditions for rectifying, canceling and combining small-sized kindergartens with poor facilities, and providing practical services to the children of the people across the town. This would greatly improve the pre-school education level of the ancient Heping Town.

Through calling upon warm-hearted people in all social sectors to raise funds, IB Nantong Branch established “Industrial Bank Grant” jointly with them to help those impoverished students in Nantong Shipping College and Yanheqiao Primary School of Nantong complete their schooling smoothly and create a good learning environment for them.

IB Chongqing Branch donated RMB 250,000 to Chengkou, a state-level poverty-stricken county, to build a Hope Primary School, donated a total of RMB 110,000 to the assistance projects for orphaned and disabled children and stay-at-home children of rural migrant workers of Chongqing Youth Development Foundation respectively, and set up the “Industrial Bank Scholarship” of the Third Military Medical University, with a total amount of RMB 300,000, to subsidize impoverished students.

On April 16, 2010, IB Jining Branch donated RMB 100,000 to Jining School for the Blind at the opening ceremony of the bank.

On July 16, 2010, IB Jianyang Branch held the opening ceremony and signed an agreement on subsidy to impoverished students with No. 1 Middle School of Jianyang, Fujian Province on the day, donating RMB 1,200 every year to 10 impoverished high school students respectively to help them accomplish their high school study.

In September 2010, IB Zhengzhou Branch and Dahe Daily launched the campaign of donation for school assistance jointly as the main sponsors, donating money and goods of which the worth were over 370,000 to Yugong Hope Primary School of Jiyuan City and Zhengzhou Branch was honored as a “Caring Institution for School Assistance”.

In 2011, IB donated RMB 180,000 to Fujian Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth, assisting impoverished students to accomplish their schooling. Meanwhile, IB also accomplished the subsidy program of “Industrial Bank Charity Grant” launched in 2007 smoothly in the year, donating RMB 10 million accumulatively and subsidizing 2,500 impoverished students of five universities including Xiamen University. In November 2011, IB decided to continue the cooperation with Fujian Provincial Charity Federation, planning to subsidize another RMB 10 million to the five universities.

In 2011, the Office of the Board of Directors of IB and Party Branch of IB Longyan Branch jointly donated over RMB 20,000 to the Central Primary School of Gutian Town, Shanghang County, an old revolutionary base in Fujian Province, purchasing over 1,000 books with love to improve the teaching conditions of the school. Mr. Gao Jianping, Party Secretary and Board Chairman of IB showed full recognition to the school assistance activity, and also participated in the activity by donating books in his own name.

Charity

From 2004 to 2008, IB Shenzhen Branch, in collaboration with Red Cross Society of China Shenzhen Branch, launched the donation activity for the special medical assistance, and the branch set up a “special donation window for the Red Cross” and provided diversified financial services to Red Cross Society of China Shenzhen Branch.

IB Dalian Branch, in collaboration with Dalian People's Broadcasting Station and Red Cross Society of China Dalian Branch, organized the large T-shirt charity sale activity named “Red T-shirts all around Dalian”, donating all the funds raised, RMB 30,000, to support the summer camp with the theme of love “Come on, Kids”.

In May 2008, IB announced to release “China Heart Credit Card”, the first one with the theme of patriotism in China, and launched “China Heart” Public Welfare Program along with the card at the same time. When a customer successfully applies for a China Heart Credit Card, the bank will donate RMB 1, and when a customer finishes a transaction of consumption, installment or cash advance with the China Heart Credit Card, the bank will donate RMB 0.01. All funds donated would be used in public benefit causes such as disaster relief and poverty alleviation through China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.

IB Zhangzhou Branch designated the 18th day of each month as the date for “Showing the love of IB”. By 2008, the funds donated by the branch’s employees out of their own free will had approached RMB 800,000.

In 2009, all the employees of IB Nanping Branch donated RMB 10,804 to an 18-year-old patient suffering from leukaemia, and established an assistance and subsidy relation with a rural girl to pay all the schooling fees and living expenses during her high school, expressing their love with substantial actions.

On May 7, 2009, at the “Colorful Tomorrow Charity Dinner” held at Jiaozi International Conference Center of Chengdu New International Exhibition & Convention Center, IB Chengdu Branch subsidized a student disabled by an earthquake with all living expenses during the period of high school and college.

On March 13, 2010, IB Jinan Branch participated in the “Match Paradise” tree-planting activity proposed and initiated by Shandong TV Media, subscribing more than 1,000 seedlings with love in total. In addition, besides the expenses on purchasing seedlings, the remaining funds provided by IB would be covered into the special funds for the public benefit program “Match Paradise” launched by View Weekly of Jinan and Shandong Radio & Television Weekly for caring and loving the retarded, orphaned and disabled children and disadvantaged social groups which resemble seedlings.

In April 2010, young volunteers from the Communist Youth League of IB Hefei Branch actively participated in the pubic benefit causes. They came to Hefei Martyrs Mausoleum and Shushan Forest Park to protect the environment and pick up garbage, and furthermore, they provided mineral water, free of charge, to the people taking part in the climbing activity. This action won good social recognition.

In June 2010, bringing good wishes to the examinees and following the long tradition of respecting teachers and stressing education, the Communist Youth League Committee of IB Headquarters and the Communist Youth League Committee of Fuzhou No. 1 Middle School jointly established a “service site for national college entrance examination” to provide caring services, such as presenting drinks to examinees, parents and teachers and providing pens and pencils for examination, and sun-shading curtains and drugs for preventing heatstroke.

On August 16, 2010, IB Huhhot Branch and the Frontier Corps of Inner Mongolia carried out the co-construction work of army and civilians, donating RMB 200,000 to establish the Grassland Frontier Defense Fund for relieving the worries of frontier soldiers at home.

On August 20, 2010, IB Nantong Branch under IB Nanjing Branch, the Communist Youth League Committee of Chongchuan District of Nantong, and Nantong Shipping College jointly held the charity auction and donation activity, “Wings of Dream – the Evening of Industrial Bank”, at Aima Sports and Conference Exhibition Center to promote the spirit of Zhao Xiaoting (A sophomore from Nantong who died in a debris flow when she stayed in Yunnan for volunteer teaching). A total of RMB 19,305 raised through the charity auction was all used to subsidize the parents of Zhao Xiaoting, who lived in poverty.

In September 2010, IB Credit Card Center went to Weiguo Primary School of Baise, Guangxi, launching the activity “Journey of Love to the Old Revolutionary Base, Baise of Guangxi”. While investigating the construction of the playgrounds of love, the delegation also presented 28 boxes of over 5,000 stationary and sports articles to the local primary schools.

On December 23, 2010, IB Changde Branch, adhering to the economical and concise principle, held a simple opening ceremony, and donated the saved funds of RMB 200,000 to the Education Bureau of Changde and Changde Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs for supporting the local education and assistance to the disabled.

In 2010, the “China Heart Credit Card Public Welfare Program” of IB continued performing its commitments to charity and pubic benefit, further donating RMB 54,897.71 apart from the donation of RMB 186,000 in 2009 (the accumulated total donation reached RMB 240,981.65), and supported the construction of playground of love in eight poverty-stricken primary schools in Guangxi and suburb of Beijing, helping those schools in the old revolutionary bases, minority areas, remote frontier areas and poverty-stricken areas to improve theirs sports infrastructure.

In 2010, IB Xi’an Branch organized nearly 40 representatives from its setups to a public benefit charity institution, Children Village under Shaanxi Emancipist Research Association, a place to bring up the underage children of criminals who are left to no one to take care of, donating goods worth RMB 110,000. While expressing their love, the participated employees further understood what a harmonious family and united team means.

In order to bring the hope of life to more patients suffering from leukaemia, IB Ningbo Branch launched the volunteer program of haematogenous stem cell donation on April 10, 2011. The volunteers of IB carefully filled in the application forms and signed their names, sending their blood samples to the “bank of life”. On that day, there were 25 employees of the branch honorably becoming the volunteers of the “China Haematogenous Stem Cell Database”.

In 2011, to support the smooth operation of Xi'an International Horticultural Expo, IB Xi’an Branch organized a system of branch and sub-branch volunteers with “special volunteers at each outlet and service backstage in each branch”, actively getting engaged in the financial youth volunteer activity with the theme “Volunteers Hand in Hand • Go ahead together with the International Horticultural Expo”. The volunteers provided such services as information consulting, direction guiding and language guarantee to customers and travelers.

Since its premiere on May 19, 2008, China Heart Credit Card – the first one with the theme of patriotism in China released by IB – had received favorable social recognition. In 2011, “China Heart Public Welfare Program” further exhibited its influence, donating RMB 45,431 to China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, and provided packages of love to all students in the Primary School attached to Changting Normal School in Changting County, Longyan City, Fujian Province, providing students with stationeries which they lacked before.

IB Credit Card Center organized donation out of their own free will in 2010 and 2011, subsidizing Weiguo Primary School of Baise, an old revolutionary base in Guangxi to provide breakfast to students, extending warmness to the needy children. The credit card center of IB, in collaboration with the public benefit organizations such as “Hands On Shanghai” and “Grassroots Community”, launched the volunteer activity “Be the Change, Volunteer”, taking care of lonely elderly people, caring for children suffering from illness, and educating the children of migrant rural workers in cities on a regular basis. In addition, the center also covered the “volunteer program” into the “plan for ideology and morality education of employees of the credit card center” and established a long-acting mechanism, organizing employees to join volunteer activities in turn on a regular basis. The center guided the employees to extend their love and care and bring happiness and warmness to the aged, children suffering from illness and the disabled, with a view to inspiring the employees to have a sense of responsibility to make contribution and give returns to the society. By December 31, 2011, the center had carried out 23 volunteer activities with 136 participants.
